Magnificent map maker and versatile illustrator
Ben is a UK-born graphic designer and illustrator based in Berlin, specialising in map design, species illustration, spot illustration, and interpretation layout design. His work is both accurate and beautiful combining structured information design with a strong visual character.

After graduating in graphic design, Ben worked across branding and editorial projects before moving into way finding and interpretation design at a specialist agency. There, he produced visitor maps, heritage interpretation systems, and illustrated visual assets for a range of public-facing environments.

Ben’s approach to map design is rooted in hierarchy, legibility, and restraint. He focuses on building systems that guide people through space and information intuitively, while using illustration to add atmosphere and personality when suitable.

Alongside maps, he develops species illustrations and spot illustrations for educational and interpretive use, often working with organisations in heritage, conservation, tourism, and environmental sectors.

His work has been applied across visitor centres, nature reserves, outdoor trail systems, housing developments, and cultural heritage sites. Each project is shaped by the same goal: to make complex information accessible, engaging, and grounded in place.
